I see people get upset at the running jokes on here like Jim Darwinism. I don't truly understand why. I respect all religions and the people that follow them. I believe people should live and believe as they choose. That doesn't mean I can't laugh at myself or at certain aspects of religion. There are those that try to offend others but I roll right by them and they are not part of my day. If laughing at some of the post on here isn't for you I would advise you to roll right by. Focus on the things on here that are a positive part of your day and leave the rest. What is your opinion? Have you ever laughed here?

I think you can't be spiritual without a sense of humour. After all, I think it's quite clear God has a sense of humour.

I'm a Christian, and I find many jokes about Christians to be quite funny.

For instance, how many Christians does it take to change a lightbulb?
Twelve: ten to pray about it, one to take up an offering, and a pastor to tell us how to live without the lightbulb.

Some people are using religion like a crutch. They are looking at religion to take the place of something that affected their lives. Others seem never to have seen the humor in stuff and cannot relate to the laughter of the situation.
Whatever In none of the bibles or scriptures is it prohibited to have a sense of Humor. I bet many of them Saints or Holy man laughed at a good joke and probably told some good ones.
At least I never met a priest/pastor that will not try and bring laughter to his/her flock.
Take a look at them religious channel and no matter how serious they talk. They will always throw in a good joke before bringing on the hell and brimstone sermon.

I get at least one laugh a day from here. It's ok to have a sense of humor and joke and being religious or spiritual shouldn't effect that, but some people just don't know how to lighten up and have fun.

Well, making religious jokes usually offend people who are deeply into thier religion. If you were, for instance if you're a Christian and someone made a joke referring to Christians ... like "OoOoH those bible thumpers" you would be offended, right? I know that when people come up to me and call me a "Mary worshiper" it's quite offensive. Or if someone makes a joke saying that Catholics were "Mary worshipers" It is pretty offensive. So you can have a sense of humor, it just depends on who you're talking to!

I believe so, yes. But I guess some can't handle the idea of someone poking fun at them or their religion. I've never really understood why people get soooooo upset over what another, total stranger, says about their beliefs. The way I see it, I have to care what you think about me in order to be offended by what you say about me or my beliefs. Otherwise, we can just turn it into Comedy Central and have at it. ^_^

You certainly can. Some people choose not to, but life's a whole lot easier if you learn to laugh at yourself. At my house, hubby and I laugh all the time- generally because I've done something not so bright, but we love it- joy is what keeps us going through the rough times. :) Yahoo Answers has already given me my biggest laugh of the day, so far! :)

Oh yes-I laugh here all the time. I certainly think that a spiritual person must have a sense of humor! It isn't a bad thing to constantly re-evaluate your beliefs and re-prove them to yourselves-that's a sign of spiritual health!

It's possible to have a sense of humor, and still find some jokes insulting. For example, would you find it offensive if someone made derogatory jokes about your race? How about your family? How about your mother? And yet, for many religions, our God is greater than any of these things.

Yes, but some jokes are uncalled for, like ones that offend religions. People get upset, including me.
