King James commissioned the KJV so that there would be a more readable version for the people. However, he was not keen on some of the teachings, and had some of the words changed. An interesting thing to note, is that it really didn't change the teachings of the Bible. The teachings of the Bible are so interconnected that it doesn't work to change a couple of words to change what the Bible says. That said one can still come to the conclusion of a lot of bad doctrine based off of mistranslations. For that reason I personally prefer to study out of the NASB. The NASB is not perfect either, so I keep my greek handy so that when I find a key word I can look up the greek passage and see what that says. No translation is utterly perfect, which is why we don't translate translations off of translations, we translate off of the original texts.
I wouldn't change the KJV, I would just opt not to use it.

It has been changed - a lot. They are called other "translations."

I personally enjoy the poetry of mid-English and enjoy the passages for literature's sake (as well as religious).

Abolishing any book, whether you like it or not, smacks of facism and nazism (whether you agree or not the Nazis were well-known for book burnings) and i wouldn't advise it. Do you really want to act like a NAZI? Go ahead, that's your right. That would be most unhelpful for you in general. I mean, do you really want to lower yourself to such a place? Only the most ignorant destroy books, especially books they do not understand and fear.

Besides, you have the power to just put it down and walk away -- no one is forcing you to read ANYTHING! Which may be the problem.

No never change the Bible.

It clearly states that in the Bible.

Those who add or remove from this Book are an abomination to the Lord.

Gosh, evil seems a bit strong, don't you think? I mean, it's not an entirely accurate or particularly reachable translation of the Bible, but it's certainly not evil. If you really feel that way about it, then it probably doesn't really matter about the translation type. It's probably a God issue with you.

One, how is it evil? Two, I would not abolish it because in the last book of Releations, it says,"Whoever adds or takes away form this book will suffer form the plaugues told of in this book." I wouldn't change anything if I were you!

You need to understand that the King James Version of the Bible was written in the language of the common man; That's how they spoke in those days. It seems strange to use because we don;t speak like that today. There are many versions which have been written in today's English; why don't you try one of those?

Well I would remove the word "Authorized" form the title page. Unfortunately some think that page is inspired. Other than that, its a good, old translation, quite remarkably for its time.

it wouldn't matter what you "wanted" to change or do to it. it will still stand as the inspired word of God and man can't change that. as someone said, if you don't like it, don't read it.

it amazes me how many ppl hate the things of God, but all you are doing is giving it more attention and then some will study it for themselves and find it to be true. so on behalf of those ppl, thank you for your questions. :)

I just leave it be. I won't even dog ear a page, highlight anything, or write anything in the side columns. We are not to add anything to it nor are we to take anything away from it.
