South Africa

Costa Rica has several microclimates and ecosystems. It is full of lush rainforest, as well as having several beaches, volcanos and mountains. It is also pretty small so although the transport infrastructure isn't perfect, it is fairly easy to get around. It also has some very nice places to stay.

For nature, Vietnam is also amazing, with several types of landscape including nearly people-free national parks, and beautiful water-based landscapes. Similar in some ways to Costa Rica. Dead cheap. However, despite rumours of big cats and elephants, it doesn't have great wildlife.

I would second South Africa, especially for the animals, although I hear that Botswana is even better. However, the Cape region of South Africa alone is worth the journey.

Some of the countries listed here, while beautiful, do not have a great range of animals (Wales, Scotland for example).

Try The United States of America.

The only difference from most other countries is that you'll have to travel a much longer distance to see it all. I've been doing it for over 50 years, and haven't seen it all yet.

If you don't happen to have the next 50 years free, and want to get the most scenery in the shortest time, check out some of the National Parks, like Yellowstone or Grand Teton in Wyoming, Glacier National Park in Montana, Yosemite in California, or the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I would say Canada, there are so many different landsscapes, animals, people, towns, it's a huge country that varies from east to west, north to south. There are big cities, small villages, in the fall it's amazing to see the leaves change colors and in the winter there are places that are so beautiful when they are covered in snow. There is so much to see and do it's hard to describe it all here, but check out some Canadian tourist site, or do a google/yahoo search and you'll find so much. Anywhere you choose to go, happy travelling!!

Australia - Rain forest, Great Barrier Reef, Uluru (formerly Ayer's Rock), Sydney (not natural beauty, but the bridge & opera house) and many of the native animals are not found anywhere else in the world. Which is why I'm going!

Amazonas (The Amazon) and Antarctica.

I was in the Amazon last year, and the number of tarantulas, gigantic cockroaches and butterflies were unimaginable! You are also able to swim with the fresh water pink dolphins in the lake along with their pals, the piranhas!

Antarctica is filled with natural beauty (stalatites and stalamites of ices!) and all types of seals, penguins (I was lucky to get a glimpse of the rare Emperor Penguin), whales...

Botswana is truely beautiful. I had my best wildlife experiences there. Namibia is also beautiful particularly north of Windhoek.
