I want some advice on how you can go from dating a person exclusively to just being friends with them. I recently broke things off with the guy I was seeing because he have very different core beliefs. We went to a movie together this past week as friends but it was more like a date than being at a movie with a friend. The guy keeps telling me how i am a rare find in this world and how he really wants to date me. He has asked me to go to see Les Miserables with him at the end of this month as friends; I want to go, but I do not want him to get the wrong idea. I like him and would date him but our beliefs are so divergent that it would never work because neither of us is willing to change our core beliefs. Please help me know how to still be friends with him and not let it turn into pseudo dating.

All you can do is sit him down and tell him straight out that there is no chance to continue the relationship you once had but if he wants to be friend you would like that. But then it is up to him if he can handle that and you have to be willing to accept if he can't.

The "friends" thing usually doesn't work, especially if you haven't had a break between dating and friendship. Take a break from each other for a month or so and then try the friends thing again.

That's not really possible in my opinion. Once you date soemone it's hard to have a friendship with them. I don't think it's possible because one always has feeling for the other. What are so different about your "core" principles??

If you have a stone heart and never really cared for that person like a lover should it's easy.If you feel like a human being does then it's impossible.
