I notice most people suggest various sightseeing sorts of things.

I have no quarrel with that and you certainly should see the sights but what I find most enjoyable about Paris is the pure joy of just being there and becoming, as much as a visitor can, a part of the city.

Its the food, the cafes, the clubs, the variety of music, and just the general look and feel of the city which is the most pleasant part.

I'd suggest that you find a good cafe or bar and just hangout and become a "regular." Meet people, make friends, and soak up the atmosphere. That's what I enjoy.

Well depends on what you like but i would warmly suggest L'arc de trImphe, Le Tour Eiffel, Catacombes; Bois de Boulogne, Notre Dame,Musee du Louvre ( the glass pyramid entrance) , Moulin Rouge, L'obelisque ( place de la Concorde), Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Place Pigalle ( the red light district), flea markets ( they have quite a few usually - you can find great bargains), have coffe in the middle of the day at a cafe, eat pain au chocolat ( chocolate croissant), eat cheese, taste a good wine, admire esquisite architecture.
Hope this helps abit. Write me if you need more information i would be happy to help.

Actually, i found the louvre too much. for more than a short stay. definately go to musee d'orsay http://www.musee-orsay.fr/ORSAY/orsaygb/HTML.NSF/By+Filename/mosimple+index?OpenDocument
go to the palais royale and take the chapel tour. go to ille de st louis and see notre dame, La madelene. sacre cour and see a very different paris from up high. I suggest you get a museum card which will make it easier to visit various museums there and a subway card for unlimited rides. I recommend at least a week of site seeing if not more, I also recommend the south of france (provence) too. good luck

to the musee rodain (it has a beautiful outdoor garden and small cafe) and also to one of the parks the Bois de Bologne or Boid de Vincennes. you can have a picnic there or rent a little boat.
