That is a question that is very difficult to answer. Regarding the Priesthood, there needs to be a process of discernment as to God's purpose for you. Only you and God can know what is the true path for you. Some men are much more suited to being a religious in a specific order (depending on their charism) while others are more suited to diocesan life as a parish priest, etc. Some orders have both missionaries and diocesan priests. Neither is better...it is just a matter of what is right for the individual trying to discern a vocation.

As a Bishop, the only real differance is that a "relegious" is more well in-tune with the life and spirituality of a particular saint, like St. Francis...etc. Although some Diocese clergy are just as well versed in the Patron of the Diocese...so a differance or who is better...that depends on your view point, not on the church's outlook.

The best is believing in what is good for you and makes you a complete, peaceful, loving person. If that's hinduism, islam, christianity, catholicism, etc. then so be it.
