Well in the USA radar detectors are only illegal in Viriginia and Washington DC.
However in some states it is illegal to have you line of sight blocked, so putting a radar detector on your windshield is illegal. However there are ways around that and cops will not pull you over solely for that reason. For example, I mount my radar detector very high above my rear view cause it is barely visible to those not in the car. Also it is barely visible to the cop if he were to lean in my car and look at me while giving me a ticket.
Having a radar detector visible to a cop is pretty much a guranteed ticket if pulled over for speeding.

Check around online because radar dectors are both legal and illegal in some states. If you are caught with a radar detector in a state in which it is illegal you will pay a very high fine!

Yes.... you can get a ticket but the ticket penalties vary for different jurisdictions. You could also go to jail!!!

Yes you can but only in certain states. In Pa its not illegal but I know its illegal in VA

They are illegal in Va. and D.C. It's illegal in all states if you have a CDL.
