There are many colleges and universities in the Arab world that allow women. The women that are not in them are not because they can not afford to. Many do not go to the schools in thier own countries instead they are educated in the West.
The Quran says that women are to be educated and if you do there will be extra blesssings. I am a Muslim woman working on my PhD.
further there are no persecutions of people of the book ie. Christians and Jews.

Preacher - grow up. You no have no right to say this to anyone. This is the law of God. He will decide not you. Secondly, I don't think God likes the way you down other religions. If you're an example of christianity, then personally, I don't want to know what christinaity is.
Islam isn't a religion. It's a way of life which encompasses all your life. It has a law for all your life, a guidance, to help you through all your life.

what you dont know is in islam education is a must,like prayer,muslim women go to schools and universities,i am a muslim women whom my father payed my feesfor college eduction,encouraged me throught out,and hpes to see me a scientist,in muslim countries,Egypt,for exaple,christians and jews are allowed free practicing of ther faith,u cant use a country that doesnt apply true islamand stereotype.Whattaliban do has nothing to do with islam even if they say it does.obvously,uuse inf from the news,try researching better

Do you remember the dark ages, where christianity did not allow science and women to come up. intelligent women were killed as they were branded wiches. even today the vatican does not want the 'da vinci code' to be released. Every religion has its problems, so stop picking on islam.

it is A true faith, but not THE true faith. The Bible says,"It is not throught works you can be saved..." Islam is based on works to get to heaven. So, to answer your question, it is a religion. Those things you listed are part of their practices.
