Mine stays on...I hid in there once to find out. Not only that...the foods come alive and mingle around and flirt with each other...
THAT explains why I am always having to search for the ketchup every time I wanna use it...that ****

Yes, look inside near the light for a little switch that the door comes into contact with, when it presses it the light should go off, you should be able to press the switch and turn the light off without closing the door.

Yes. The light is meant to illuminate the fridge so you can see into it when it is opened. Therefore, there is no need for the light when the door is closed. Besides, a light bulb creates heat and heating the contents of your refrigerator is defeating the purpose don't you think?

Yes. There is a "button" in the crease where the door closes. When the door is shut, it depresses the button which turns the light off. You can test this by pressing the button with your finger and you will see that the light goes out.

yep...check out the button that you can press and it will trick the fridge into thinking that the door is closed. i love playing with that button and yell 'fooled ya!' when the light goes out. it's barrels of fun when you got nothing else to do.

Yes it does. All you have to do is push the lever that sticks out near the hinges of the door and you will see it go out for yourself.
