Honestly don't bother unless you think that your dog is going to have many health problems. It is very expensive and usually most people only take their dog to the vet once a year, so it doesn't pay off in the long run. If you still want insurance check the link below

YES!!!

I had insurance for my last dog, which cost $11 a month. He got cancer, unfortunately too early in his life. I put him through radiation therapy which, sadly, did not save him. He died last April at the ripe old age of not quite 6. The treatments cost about $1,200. Insurance covered 80% of that, so I only spent about $250. They also covered 80% of the allergy hyposensitization treatments he had before he got sick, the extraction of a bad tooth, and anesthesia and stitches on a paw pad when he cut himself at the lake.

I got another dog this past October, and I got insurance for him the very first day I brought him home. Fortunately, this little monster has been healthy, but I like the peace of mind that comes from knowing that if something significant happened to him, I'd be able to afford to care for him and I'd never be one of those people who posts a question on here like "my dog is bleeding and can't get up but I can't afford to take him to the vet so what should I do."

Even if you don't think you'll have issues with your pet, insurance is a good thing. My dogs live indoors, are purebreds purchased from reputable breeders, eat premium food, get lots of exercise and are spoiled rotten, but you can never predict what could happen to them.

I read an article that said that if you would put the money you would pay into a savings account and use only that money for the vets, that you will be farther ahead in the long run. Insurance companies are in business to make money. For most people, it is not worth it.
