I have allergy on grass pollen and have been taking winter injections since 3 years. They say that after 3-5 years, the regular immunization therapy will take effect and symptoms will be reduced.

I already see some improvements compared to last summer, but maybe it is just that these weeks there was less pollen in the air. I am really really hoping to get better and be able to forget about this illness one day! :)

Please inform me if you know some success stories - I think, hearing them would really give me some hope!

Also, if the answer is yes to my question, please tell me if you applied any kind of alternative medicine techniques or lifestyle changes (nutrition changes, meditation, yoga, others) that helped you.

Thanx in advance,
Miss Hope
:-)

Yes, immunotherapy has really helped me. I had shots for 9 years. I used to be allergic to raw fruits and vegetables and the smell of skunk, plus all pollens, some molds, dust mites and other things. The shots have really helped my pollen allergies and the allergy to raw fruits and vegetables and skunk has totally disappeared! Now I can eat a salad and fresh fruits. I don't have to worry about a dangerous allergic reaction if I run over a skunk. The first time I smelled skunk after I was no longer allergic, I didn't even know what it was. It did not burn any more.

Hi Miss Hope,
Immunotherapy, also known as IT does not work for everyone, but I can tell you numerous stories of people it has helped. Usually, as you said, after 3-5 years. Some people just stay on it always ( as is the case with my best friend ). The people who are on it always do ok when they are on it, but suffer when not. I worked in Asthma/Allergy/Immunology for 4 years and can quote several success stories of patients who are free from allergy symptoms, even after being off of IT for several years ( such as myself - I took them for 6 years and have been off for 3 years and I am doing fine )
Good Luck Miss Hope with your IT, hope it works for you!
