I know a lot of people still love to hear him at the beginning of a fight, but his voice has been going for some time now. He can't possibly be doing it any good. Maybe it's time for him to step down? Who all is there to replace him?

Why retire? He basically gets paid thousands to say ONE LINE. Sure anyone could be ring announcer for most of it but what you may not realize is that he actually has the line trademarked. If anyone else says "are you ready to rumble" they have to pay him for use of it.

I hope he doesn't anytime soon. Have you heard other boxing announcers? Chuck Hull was old.school Jimmy Lennon Jr. is annoyingly boring. Buffer brings it. I read he gets paid 10k every time he says those 5 freaking words. Why didn't I think of that? Also, can you imagine if he did retire? Commercialism will rule and you will have some announcer like the ones in the NBA---more interested in hearing their own voices than focusing on the fighters. While we're at it, get rid of Lennox Lewis as an announcer. He doesn't bring anything to the table. So many long pauses between comments.

I cannot believe you people!!!!!! You guys actually still like Michael Buffer! I am so very tired of his little dog and pony show, and disgusted that promoters still pay him a crap load of money for it, that I usually leave the room when he comes on. Hopefully he and Bruce will both retire and get out of my face.

I've liked him for a long time and he does set the stage, but I do think it's time for him to step down, personally.

First, the intro of the fighters is just sounding too much the same anymore.

Second, the 'let's get ready to rumble' is getting dated.

I think he'll retire the first time he says, "Let's get rrrready to rrrrrrrrrrrr <> eroreickaja ..umble. ack ack"

It seems as long as there are ladies, gentlemen, and fight fans from around the world, Mr. Buffer will continue to RRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBLE.
