I'll assume that you don't have naturally wavy hair. But is your hair straight? Curly? Thin? Thick? Need a bit more info please.

After washing you hair, towel dry it, put a small dob of gel on your hands and run it thru your hair, kind of scrunching at the same time. Let it dry that way. You may need a couple of practice runs to perfect the curl. Don't use too much gel or you'll end up with the wet look.

Time Required: 30 minutes - 1 hour, depending on length & thickness of hair
Here's How:

1. Spray freshly washed roots with volumizing spray. I like Bumble & Bumble or you can try Aveda volumizing tonic .
2. If hair is naturally course or curly, work a straightening balm through hair. Here's a great list of balms .
3. Blow dry hair straight, starting at the roots to get extra volume. Hair must be completely dry for this look to work. Blow cold air at the roots to add volume (cold air locks in a style)
4. Separate hair into 3 sections, securing with a ponytail holder. (It's easier this way to curl your way through each section).

5. To curl hair, use a 1-inch barrel curling iron. Starting with one section, take a 1-inch portion of hair and wrap hair around the barrel of the curling iron. (Wrapping hair is different from the traditional curling method. You don't want to 'clip' hair into the barrel. Wrapping allows you to curl all the way to the root). When you're curling, make sure to leave ends loose.

Release the curl after about 5-10 seconds (hold longer if you want a tighter curl). You should have a corkscrew curl.
6. Roll & pin curl to your scalp.
7. Alternate the direction of the curl as you work your way through the section. (Wrap hair under once, then over the next time). Alternating directions makes curls look more natural.
8. Once pinned curls have cooled, release them.
9. Remove nozzle from dryer & gently loosen waves with cool air. You can also separate curls with your fingers, just make sure not to brush them out.
10. To add shine, spritz a hair serum . Or forego hair serum & spritz with saltwater spray. I like John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea spray.
11. Set with a spritz of hairspray. Just don't overdue it, you don't want to new waves to be 'crunchy.'

What You Need:

* Volumizing spray
* Straightening balm (if you have thick, course hair)
* Hair dryer
* A 1-inch barrel curling iron
* Ponytail holder & bobby pins
* Shine serum
* Hairspray
* Saltwater spray

hey hunny
its really easy
you have 2 options

1) wash you hair (no conditioner as this weighs down your hair) then plait it ! the bigger the plaits the bigger the waves!! let it dry naturally! before taking out the plaits spray with hair spray. hey presto sexy surfer chick !

2) for a more polished wave get your self some heated rag rollers !!! glossy shiny waves that even a celeb would be envious of!

You'll look fab hunny
