Moving to Md in 5 weeks. We want to live in Montgomery county area, Germantown Gaithersburg, we'd even go out to Silver Spring, but we need something around 950 1-2 bedroom. Anyone stay in any places they like or dislike around there? Thanks!

Hi, I live in Germantown MD. Germantown,Gaithersburg, and parts of Silver Spring are affordable areas in the county. I'm currently renting a room in someone's townhouse for $540/month. And I just bought a condo in Montgomery Village so I'll be moving there in a few weeks. I don't know much about individual apartments ($950 seems like a good price) though you can check out washingtonpost.com or craigslist to get an idea of prices. If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me.

You aren't going to find anything decent for that kind of money, I'm afraid, in Montgomery County (or anywhere else in or around the capital beltway). You would need to go a good bit farther out from DC.
You might be able to find something up in Frederick, MD. But if you are going to commute into DC from there, you would have to deal with a load of heavy duty traffic or take the MARC train.
Property rates have skyrocketed in DC the last few years and you could easily expect to pay $1500 a month for even a one bedroom apartment, depending on ammenities, in the DC suburbs.

It is very expensive for housing in the DC/Md area and you may not get something you want for $950. You may need to bump up your limit to about $1500. Do use the washington post site.

basic math concerning the DC metro section. The farther you're far off from city midsection, the "safer" you're and the greater fee-effective the fee of residing...trouble-free. Now, to complicate issues for you, I positioned secure in costs because of the fact, counting on the place you unquestionably artwork and what you could take care of to pay for, you will nevertheless could desire to return and forth to artwork. The farther out you're, counting on what section, the fewer possibly you could have get right of entry to to public transportation. which ability you will could desire to rigidity to artwork and the DC section has the greater severe site visitors interior the country....era. That rigidity will boost your possibility quotient extensively and you could properly be greater beneficial off residing closer and spending somewhat greater funds on housing. as properly the wear and tear and tear on your motor vehicle and gasoline will consume up your fee reductions which you're making on your place or residence to be "secure". So, a greater physically powerful thank you to ask your question could desire to be what components might you propose for "X" anount of dollars per 30 days, metro get right of entry to, good colleges and a secure community. appropriate is an argument of opinion and relative. even although, based on the tone of your question, Fairfax, Loudon, and Arlington counties in VA could be good and Sir Bernard Law, Anne Arundel and Howard counties could be good in MD which you would be able to start your seek.
