I have that and also Mozilla. It seems to weed out a lot of questionable stuff.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking here because the obvious answer is to run a scan. This is a part of every anti virus programme.
If you do not continually check with your anti virus provider for updates - then the answer to your question is "No". You will not be safe because virus writers are always working on the next virus just as soon as the anti virus people have come up with an answer.

You should be safe if your emails are automaticatically checked for viruses. You can do a virus check be opening your antivirus and do a virus scan...on some you would have to click on status.
I can tell you this...the BIG mistake that most people make is that they believe that the anti-virus program on their computer is active. A subscription usually last one year and if you have not paid for your anti-virus in over a year you may not be covered. Good luck!

One is never safe from viruses and here is why. Take Norton for instance. (And this applies to all anti-virus software.) While they give you protection from most viruses, there is always some egghead out there that is making new ones to beat the system and to aggravate people. This is why I NEVER click on a pop up or read emails that are not from trusted sources. If you visit porn sites, stick to those that are safe. Its best to purchase a reputable anti-virus program. I use Norton with much success. Also, you can utilize two FREE programs that will help you clean your system of adware, cookies, etc etc. They are Ad-Aware Se and Spy Doctor, both found for FREE at http://www.download.com. Hope this assists you!

If you have a firewall and an anti-virus program you still aren't safe from viruses.
To run a virus check, open your anti-virus program and tell it to run a full scan. The exact buttons you'll need to click to do that will vary depending on your anti-virus program. It also helps to keep your anti-virus program updated with the latest definitions so that it can identify more potential viruses.

In general you are pretty safe. Are you 100% safe, no. It also depends on which firewall and which anti-virus. Just like any product, there are good ones and bad ones. I know you can get a free virus scan from Trendmicro and that will provide a secondary test to see how clean you are.

Very simple completely free and reliable security system for your machine:
(1) AVG free edition is anti virus to replace crappy Norton or McCaffy
(2) Ad aware (also free) searches for Ad ware and Mal ware.
(3) Spybot (free) Search and Destroy
(4) Smitrem (just in case) removes SmitFraud hijacks.
keep (1) on all the time of course. it updates daily.
run (2) at the first sign of trouble because because Ad ware is pernicious and masquerades as legitimate programs. run it every week or two just because.
run (3) when either of the first two report trojans.
run (4) if only if you need to. google SmitFraud to find out just what all it can do to your system.
go to Tools>>Internet Options>>General>>Temporary Internet Files [delete cookies] and [delete files]. (do this daily if you spend a lot of time on internet).
be aware your security, no matter how good, may be compromised in any P2P file sharing site, and ALL porn must be considered suspect.
or ......pay me $55 per hour to remove the nasties from your machine. have a great day. Peace.

Well for the most part u are safe,as long as u run a virus scan, which should be done at least once a week,i advise more often if u are an avid net user. Some other progs that u could use (that are free) are spybot search and destroy, microsoft antispyware, adaware, ccleaner. U should have your antiv set to do scans automatically if u have that option.

If u have both anti-virus and firewall, u r on a safer side. it does reduce the chances of getting any viruses on the computer. but, u do need to check for regular updates from time to time. and scan ur PC regularly as well. if ur PC has got any virus the anti-virus will detect and remove it. To remove the virus, scan full PC with anti-virus, it will remove the virus

If any anti-virus / firewall were %100 there would never be a fear of viruses. You still have be careful of where you surf, and what you do on your computer. The internet is no longer fun all the time.

You are 98% safe at this point. There is no such thing as a virus check as all viruses have different attributes and new ones are released daily.
