Sudden appearance. Could it be an allergic reaction? How do I treat it? Lips are extremely dry as well. Showed up overnight and worsening. Tried vaseline and lip balm, but does not help. Can anyone help?

This could be an allergic reaction to your lipstick,lip-plumping treatments, fingernail polish(fingers touch lips all day;this is contact dermatitis) or even to your toothpaste and teeth whitening strips,if you use them.Put away the Vaseline;it just makes things worse.Try using Cortaid for a few days and you can use Mentholatum ointment on top of that.Mentholatum Ice lip balm is also a good moisturizer. If you do not see any improvement,go see a doctor, preferably a dermatologist.

Sounds like it could be an allergic reaction. The vaseline should help with the moisture but if that's not working you should go to the doctor.
Redness and crusty skin at the corners of your mouth can also be caused by severe cases of anaemia. If your tongue is also a bit swollen and painful as well this might be your problem or is part of it. You can check that by pulling down just below your eye so you can see the skin behind your bottom eye-lid. It should be red but if you're anaemic it will be nearly white. If that is so, you need to increase your iron intake by eating more red meat & green vegies.
For the meantime, make sure you keep your lips clean with an antiseptic if they're bleeding to prevent infection.
Good luck :)

I use ice for anything swelling on my lips - this really helps! Also stops a blister from busting if you get to it soon enough. Keep the lips moist - maybe A & D - worth a try. If you think its an allergic reaction - might want to consult doc. Try benedril.

The sudden onset, does indicate something is wrong, see your doctor now. It could be allergic reaction, or chemical reaction.
