If you could also post a model for us, or as much detail (e.x. Humax Tivo DVD Recorder) as possible, we can help you more.
If it's a tivo, go to Settings->Phone and Network->Connect to the Tivo Service now.
Otherwise, I'm going to need more info to help you.
