I am going with green for my walls, wondering if anyone has a suggestion about what shade of green to chose? I have a handle board in the middle so the room could easily be split into 2 colors one on top one on the bottom.

I used a sagey green from shermin williams called Silt. It is almost the same color as the screen here where you type your answer. I really like it on the walls and it is really a neutral you can use anyother color green or cream or white. very versital color.

I guess you could say that when it comes to decorating my own home, I tend to throw all the "rules" outs the window and go with what I like and it usually comes out okay. I seem to get compliments and many requests to help others with their own decorating problems. By standards, I have a small kitchen, about the size of an apartment. I love the Tuscan colors and everyone I spoke with told me the space was too small and my chosen colors would make it even more so.

I have dark cherry cabinets, put down a dark slate flooring in shades of browns with green areas in it. I, too, wanted to emphasize the green. It's only paint, and I'm stubborn! I chose a medium green called riverbark. The wall behind the table and the area underneath the top cabinets were done in the same green in a wall paper with a large gold scrolled pattern. As the appliances are almond, I chose a tapestried window covering (and there are drapes on the window behind the table) in the same shade of green with the golds and burgandy I like.

I think the key here is in keeping everything in the same color tones and it really visually opens up the room. I also stay away from all those little chotzkys. I chose a few larger proportioned and carefully chosen urns, a mirror and some dried herbs and floral arrangements. In taking all things into consideration, when I go season to season, the green goes great with my Thanksgiving and Christmas tableware.

Everyone congregates to my kitchen when they visit, and it's also the direct path to the back deck, so it was important to me that it looked nice as well as being functional. Go with your instincts and your project should be great. Good luck!

I have a mid century modern home which I used an apple green in my kitchen. Its very bright and colorful. I really love it. I was a bit apprehensive at first being it was such a bright color. My cabinets have a white hi gloss finish and I used a white iridescent Mosaic glass tile for the back splash. The white really neutralizes the bright green.

The shade of green really depends on your cabinets. Are they a natural finish, dark finish or white? If they are natural go with a light mint color. It will enhance your cabinets. If they are a dark finish go with more of an olive light color, a green with a brown undertone. If they are white go with a bright green. When choosing color you have to consider the other elements in the room like flooring, cabinets, lighting. Hope this helps.

The easiest way to go with any color you're leaning toward is to find "something" with the exact color you want in it..like a painted dish, a wall-paper desigh, or a picture. That will also give you coordinating colors. Pick 3 you like and base your whole color scheme on it. Greens can be tricky. Don't get anything too blue looking or too yellow. Stay with lighter colors that will essentially become neutral when you get them on the wall; for example, light olive green. Good luck!

We did a sage green in our bathroom and I am always getting compliments on it. It is very warm and inviting. We just moved and in the new house we did an olive color in the boys' bedroom. We got it from Lowes. It is really nice and I have got a lot of compliments on it as well. I really like white trim with the green colors, but if you have darker cabinets you could always do a darker trim too.

Good luck!

the darker the color the smaller the room will be, I would do a soft celery green with cream on the chair rail, if you do want 2 different colors go one shade lighter that the one on bottom. That way your kitchen want smother you while your trying to cook.

No with the halfway colour split - if you want two colours go for a feature wall (i.e. a dark forest green wall on one wall, cream or pale pale green on the others).

It depends on the room - if it's big and light you can get away with quite extravagant greens (emerald or a rich leaf green or even hunter green), if it's small or dark you want to keep it as light and spacious as possible, so use a pale, bluey green.
