They are about 1 year and 3 months old. I believe they are brother and sister. Do you think they will try to mate and would that be a problem? At what age to you think they might mate? When do they become adults? If I see them hump, should I go out and buy the wooden nesting box? If I buy it, how do i put it in/on the cage because they look rather large?

I didn't exactly want them to breed...they are together for the company. I've heard that a female may still lay eggs and if she doesn't have a place to lay them, she might get 'binded'? or something llike that and it's dangerous for her.

The person above me says age does not matter - well it does. It's very important. Well 15 months is probably ok if it is budgies. But for other parakeets Rosellas etc, the birds should be over 2 years for successful breeding. If the birds are brother and sister, you should not let them breed. You may have deformed chicks.

They will mate around 2 to 4 months old before they mate i have to parakeets to so i looked some stuff up.
Well it depends on how big the cage is if it's small then I problem ask some one to help find i smaller one and if not get the smallest nest they have and then by a cheap cage bigger then yours .It problemlly won't be a problem if they do mate try not to let them do it More than once

IF U HAVE ANY ? EMAIL ME lexilou01@sbcglobal.net

I had a male and female parakeet together for over 5 years and they never mated. With parakeets, if they are socailized with people (someone talks to them, spends time with them, even lets them out of the cage for a while), then they WON'T mate. Period. Only if they are left alone in their cage with the only human contact being to change their food and water, will they mate with each other.

the whole mating thing.... well at 15 months they are definitely adults; i think that they are adults at 6 months in age (assuming u have bulgies).
idk about the whole brother/sister thing, but just b/c u put 2 birds in the same cage doesn't mean that they will mate... it's like putting 2 ppl in the same room and expecting them to go at it.... seriously. it probably isn't such a good idea to try to get them to mate, but if it happens, it happens. And u prolly should get a nesting box just in case.

they shouldnt be in the same cage if they are brother and sister because the shouldnt breed. if they do dont put a nest in their cage becasue that will just make breed more
