After pop has been opened there is extra room in the bottle for the air bubbles to leave the pop. to make it last longer before you put the cap back on squeeze the bottle until the pop is closer to the top of the bottle. (Yes it will be mishaped) but there won't be as much room for the carbonation to escape.

Yes pop can go flat when you take the cap off and leave it off for a few hours. It is best to put it back on after you are finished taking a drink if you are going to put it in the fridge or just sit it on a table!

it goes flat because it loses its carbination. its soo gross lol
putting the cap on definetly helps, but it will go flat within like an hour for a 20 ounce, and a day for a 2-liter.
the more movement you make with pop, the less carbination is has. thats why if you shake up an opened bottle of pop, it doesnt taste as good anymore.

Because of the loss of carbonation. Keeping a screw-type cap on it aids in prevention somewhat, but it will eventually go flat once it is opened.

Pop goes flat when exposed to the air. It's because the carbonated water reacts to the air and loses its fizz. Keep the cap tightly closed to keep your pop fizzier longer.

I think the carbonated water looses its fizz after it has been open for awhile. I have left the cap on and it last longer but still goes flat eventually lol.

cos he got run over by a bulldozer. Depends if his face is all smashed up or not as to whether to put his cap back on, it might look better on backwards if he's too squashed up

Yes!! it looses it's carbonation because carbonation is "gas" [co2] mixed with water it is released into the ambient when exposed to atmospheric pressure. if bottle is closed it has to be an air tight seal so the co2 won't escape.
