and then some have "beefburgers". What is the real difference?

There's probably not a difference. Those restaurants that use "beef burgers" are probably just trying to be cute or something, or make sure people know they have really good burgers, like good cuts of the beef. "hamburgers" sound kinda weak I guess. Unless it has to do with the actual part of the cow where the meat comes from.

Hamburgers is just a generic terminology. Some restaurants buy a cheaper grade meat with fillers. Other restaurants buy better quality meat and that may be the reason they are calling them beefburgers.
