Are you sure you want to express you love? Or, are you really expressing your NEED to be loved? The less we feel supported by a man, often the more we want to show him how much we love him. It's ironic: but subconsciously we believe that if we show him MORE love, he will show us MORE love. Actually, the opposite is true. If we are not getting enough emotional support from a man, we need to pull back and give less. If you want your man to find you interesting, don't be so loving and giving UNLESS he is meeting your needs--THEN lavish your love on him.

A gift of love would be an act or gesture of love. Doing something that he will remember or hold dear to him. A picnic or tickets to a basketball or baseball game for the both of you. Jewellery is personal and more intimate than cologne.

What does he love to do - besides being with you. Buy him something that relates to that activity. If he golfs, buy him a club or a new bag, etc. That way, he knows you know him, his likes and wants and you also accept him playing that sport, or watching movies, or painting, etc.

Why don't you do smth yourself, smth small and not very arty but with love. He would really appreciate it.
I've given my bf several presents made by myself, he loves them all. He said it was cool that I had spent my time, used my energy, forced my imagination. I made a postcard with some tender words, a hand-made heart, and finally knitted a scarf for his birthday. He was so proud of it, I guess he told everybody that his girlfriend did it for him :-)
