Good question. I don't know the answer, but I have another point for you.
Why is the ingredients part of the label necessary on a bottle of water? All it says is.......water.

It is contantly flowing when running through the mountain so would remain fresh. Once the water is bottled it may become stale after a time.

The FDA requires a shelf life date. That's probably the reason. And also the plastic taste can "leach" into the water after a long time.

Its because over time the plastic will leech into the bottle and they can only guarantee the vacuum seal to keep out bacteria and such for so long
