Liquid Bandage works like a charm. It does a lot of things at once. It stops the bleeding. It prevents infection. It bridges the gap from one skin edge to the other. It doesn't show nearly as much as a band-aid. It absorbs or deteriorates around the same rate as healing takes place.

Wash your hands well with soap and water, if available.
Put on medical gloves, if available, before applying direct pressure to the wound. If gloves are not available, use many layers of clean cloth, plastic bags, or the cleanest material available between your hands and the wound.
Have the injured person hold direct pressure on the wound, if possible, and elevate the injured area.
Use your bare hands to apply direct pressure only as a last resort.

Hold it above your head (hold it straight up), leave it there for a while, when it's stopped a bit then you put a plaster (band aid) on it, if that still doesn't work try holding it in the air again, then run it under cold water, then stick it in the air again and THEN put a plaster on it.

Need to close the cut by applying light pressure and use band aid, if your bleeding is abnormal may be you lacking vitamin K..

Trust me this works. Superglue. The Superglue will seal the cut. First wash your hands with soap and water, dry them quickly, have paper towels on hand. Just a drop of the Superglue should do it. Good Luck.

apply pressure, then a bandaid. Not too tightly though :)

(the reason it hurts so much is that paper isn't sharp like a blade, the edges are rough so it slices the skin unevenly)

It's probably way too late now, but get yourself a styptic pencil like the one shown below and keep it in the medicine cabinet for future use.

Good Luck!

Firstly, stop slitting your finger???
Just put a pressure pad onto it and then elevate your hand for a while.
