What do you mean by cutting your hair short? Do you mean cutting your waist length hair to shoulder length or do you mean cutting your hair into a very short cropped style? If it is the latter, then don't do it! I don't think it will make you look younger, if anything I think it can often do the opposite. I understand older women cutting their hair because it is brittle and thinning, but if you have lovely thick wavy hair, why would you want to cut it all off!! Women cutting all their hair off after 40 is a thing of the past, how many movie stars over 40, cut their hair short? Very few, because longer hair = femininity and youth. Just make sure it is in a flattering style for your face, with lots of choppy layers and a nice colour that suits your skin tone. HTH : )

You ask a good question.
I'm about to turn 50... and wonder the same thing. I was at a restauant last night and saw a group of eight women, probably in their late sixties, and they all had really short hair.
I've got below shoulder length hair that I wear up most of the time. I think it looks more feminine.
In the corporate world, there's the thought that short hair is more professional. That may contribute to the percentage of women with short hair. None of our top VPs have long hair.
So... a question for you: if women with short hair are promoted more often than those with long hair, is there a dichotomy among men? Meaning, men LIKE for women to have long hair, but VALUE women who have short hair?

I have been wearing my hair short since my teens. I think I just look better in short hair. I don't think all women over 40 have short hair - that's just a generalization. However, whatever a woman does, she is always trying to look her best and to be a woman (feminine). So, why not try to have an open mind about this issue?

This one goes a little deeper than that.
See, what we do and how we dress or look really has nothing to do with you men as much as it does how we feel about ourselves.
Sure,. you may not find it attactive, but we really couldn't care less. We don't live to keep all men happy, just our own.
there will always be an abundant supply of woman who look like woman,in your eyes, around, so you're allset.
Since teen years, most females start being very conscious of their outward appearance, sometimes to the point where it takes forever to get out the door. As we age, we find more strengths and confidence that has nothing to do with our looks as much as our experiences, ability to love, family, careers, etc. that keeping our hair long doesn't always have first billing.
I am going to be 39 this month. My hair is shoulder length, and I run about 26 miles/week and try to look my best for my husband. the only reason my hair isn't shorter is because it looks like crap when it's above my shoulders, but I do love the look of short hair, especially on a girl with a pretty face.
If you would rather that your future wife/current wife not cut her hair, say so . She might listen. She might not.

I really wish I knew and I really wish they wouldn't. Ok I have seen some shorter hair cuts that I really like and really look good on those women, however it is not the norm. I love longer hair and I believe that it is more feminine and more attractive. My ex wife didn't agree and well things wne t south, but I still feel that my feelinga about her and her appearance should have mattered. Hair length may not be a definate factor but I believe it looks better on most women than shorter hair. remember I did say I have seen some very nice shorter hair but not shorter than mione please.

I have no idea....but I agree most times it does not look good.
Long healthy hair is ALOT of work but all women of all ages can do achieve it,if they want to..I guess some women just don't want to.

Hair gets dryer, thicker, and more wiry once a woman passes menopause. This makes it much harder to take care of the hair.
FYI, a woman can be sexy with short hair too. Think of Halle Berry.
How sexy do you think YOU will be when you get older? You will probably adjust as you get older, and then you'll find women with short hair attractive. Either that, or you'll hook up with someone half your age :-)

I believe its because they dont want the trouble of taking care of it after a certain age however, and this is just personal opinion, I think they look sexier with long hair but what is more important is how it makes them feel and the convenience.
