there are recycling and propagande.
but i think that the most useful one is TEACHING. i think that it all starts with the parents. they need to teach and show the good example to their children while they are still young so they will respect the nature later on.

It doesn't matter what the USA does because third world country's don't do it and pollution does not have borders.The world must come together to solve global issues this will be the ultimate test.

to prevent pollution

avoid using cfc chemicals useof alternatives even if not economical,
avoid resource wastage(electric power,food,heat,unnecessary transportation using car where one can use cycle or by walk)
nicely told to use fuel cell driven vehicle for transportation.


control pollution
This is mostly done all industries by implementating standard ISO14000:2004.
A further step will certainly lead to above.
aspecting for resouce wastage effectively.
use of pollution control mechanism like wetscrubber to reduce SOX and NOX in let out flue gases.
treatment plant to process the water let to drainage.
