the results of either would be the same. But at least if you failed at being a good parent it implies that you were actually trying to be a good parent. If you succeed at being a bad parent then it sounds as if you actually tried to be a bad parent and made it your goal.

deliberately being a bad parent definitely will raise bad children. Trying to be a good parent and not succeeding may or may not create a bad child.
