Leaving out Muslims, Jews, and other non-christian faiths, there is still some debate among Christians over the exact relationship of God and Christ, which go back to the roots of Catholicism.

Leaving aside Gnostics and Essenes, the first major split in Christianity was over followers of Arius, who supported a heirarchy of God foremost and Christ as a lesser dvinity. In 325, the Council of Nicea affirmed instead the trinitarian view of Christ. Some debate over the exact nature of Christs divine nature led to other schisms, but for the most part, Trinitarianism held sway over all major branches of Christianity even through the Protestan Reformation . It wasn't until the 19th century, when the Spiritualist movement occured, mostly as a backlash to the Rationalism and Humanism of the Industial Revolution and Age of Reason, that new Christian sects began to arise, like Jehovah's Witnesses, The Church of Latter Day Saints, and Christian Scientists, which empahsized a personal experience with God (in some ways similar to the early gnostic ideas) with a focus on personal interpretation. Since the trinity isn't explicitly described in the text of the New Testemant, many of these later churches rejected the Trinitarian doctrine in favor of their own interpretations.

So unless you are; a non-christian, a follower of Arius;; or a follower of one of a number of modern churches founded in the the 19th, then yes Christ is God.

I will not quote verses from Quran to state facts but simply, a human being cannot be a God. How can he be one? Did he create himself then worship himself? Why couldn't he save himself from the pain? What powers of a god does he have? Can he create/end lives of people? Can he forgive or torture people? Jesus (pbuh) himself, did not claim to be god. This is what the church made people to believe years after Jesus was lifted up to heaven (not crucified).

The question actually is How can people believe that Jesus (pbuh) is god?

The fact that even the bible only calls him the son of god, correct me if I am wrong, but, Jesus never claimed to be GOD. Jesus is part of the Christian Triad, just as Krishna is part of the Hindu Triad. Mythology and mens ignorance have turned Jesus into GOD.

Hi! Jesus is a great part of GOD. GOD is the very essence of unconditional LOVE. GOD/LOVE is without judgment. Jesus was/is a DIVINE vessel filled w/unconditional LOVE. Jesus believed that no one should judge but instead, LOVE one another UNCONDITIONALLY! This is what He tried so hard to teach. How long has it been since the time of Jesus. Humans are really dense, aren't they?! P.S. We too, are a part of GOD. We are part of the essence of unconditional LOVE because that is the image of what we were created. There is ONLY ONE....the ONE LOVE VIBRATION!

No, Jesus and God are two different beings. The idea that they are one in the same doesn't make sense to me because in Bible says that God gave his only begotten son to die for our sins. If that is so then they can't be the same being because Jesus is God's son.

Jesus never called himself god and never told his followers to worship him.

Jesus prayed to his father and attributed all his power wisdom and being toward "the almighty god" which Jesus never refered himself as.

Don't believe what people or other web sites tell you ... read the goseples yourself ... read different versions of the bible so you don't get caught up in the translation meanings.

The Son is the radiance of God's Glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in Heaven.
