OK listen; take a broom. Slowly swing it back and forth. Concentrate on taking it straight back very slowly on the target line. Make a slow full back swing. Then at half tempo swing it down and through "sweeping the grass". Once you've developed the technique for accomplishing this feat. Do the same drill with the 5 wood. On your practice swings back and forth "sweep" the ground. Step up to the ball and "Sweep" the ball off of the fairway. You can do it. Good luck.

Try to have a natural set up when you are hitting a 5 wood, here is the tips: Close your eyes first, then straighten your arms, and before you put your club down on the floor, bent your knees slowly. Then you will know what your set up should be, I've use this method a lot of time and you can also do it at home any time when you are free. So, go and correct your set up and then you just go and smash your 5 wood off the fairway .(Don't forget your spine angle should not be change too!)
HAPPY GOLFING!

Play it like a low iron. Square your shoulders over your feet and rotate around your center of gravity. Only play a 5 wood in the fairway or off a tee on a par 4, never in the tall stuff or from the rough.

Can you hit your 3 wood? If so the 5 should be easy. Go to the driving range and start wilth it on a tee. Play it up in your stance. Remember you do not want to make a divot

I think 5 wood is the easiest wood to hit. Do you have problem with driver and three wood? HItting woods is a sweaping motion, unlike iron that you are hitting down on it.
