Why does it matter personally to you?

I'm a Jew. If I were to follow the Old Testament literally, I'd have to walk out of the house every day with my hair covered, and I could never wear pants, shorts, or any other type of "boy's clothing". Even many Orthodox Jews I know don't choose to follow this extreme.

Why? Because it's ridiculous. I dress to be comfortable, to be practical, and to look good. I'm not an "immodest" dresser - my MOTHER has told me that I should start wearing shorter skirts - but I don't have a problem with people who are. If they are comfortable with showing off their bodies, why should that be a problem for anyone else?

This brings me back to my original question - what is your stake in this issue? If you're uncomfortable with "sexy" looks, if you don't like how they make you feel, then more power to you - don't wear them! But don't make everyone conform to your ideals of modesty, please. A certain group of fundamentalists of a different sort tried that over in the Middle East, and it ended up with burkas. I don't know where you live, but in America, at least, one of the most fundamental rights is that of freedom to do things that won't harm anyone else, whether that's bearing arms or baring arms.

Besides - and I'm asking this sincerely - with so much violence, poverty, and illness in this world, aren't there bigger fish for faithful Christians to fry? Is women who dress "wrong" really the most pressing problem of today?

It sounds more like the Bible is saying people shouldn't cross dress - which is a lot more relevant to what men do than women, not that women shouldn't wear trousers. You can't really dredge another society's idea of womens and mens clothes into a different context. Nowdays there are womens and mens trousers, in another time men wore what looked like a dress, it is not the clothing that is under question here it is the identity. And besides depending on the trousers women can look a lot more like women wearing them.

Meh.. If you quote the bible, there's a verse in the new testament were it says that women should cover their faces all the time. It's one of Paul's letters, I'm kinda lazy to look it up, point is that , God didn't say anything. It's the culture that dictates what women wear. In the case of the bible , it goes by Jewish and middle eastern standards, 2000+ years ago. Not something you really want to do , is it?

No God has asked or ordered or instructed woman or man to wear such and such dresses.
You have to wear dress to cover your body.
Because clothes are produced, we are wearing them.
When there was no clothes some decades back what was there to wear?
Why do you drag God for each and everything, when you are having a brain to think. Use your brain or go to hell instead of calling God, if hell is there.
Have you seen God. Whether God has asked you to do this and that and how and why.
If you are interested wear the dress or else?

So, do you cover your head every time you pray?

1 Cor. 11 beginning in verse 5.

What, exactly, do you deem to be "men's clothing," btw?

Some women are not Christian, and so are not bound by the Christian rules of female dress. Were you actually addressing women in general or just Christians?

God never set a dress code for any of us. Get your head out of you butt and understand that it has been man that make these rules. Women are not second class citizens of this world. It is time to stop treating them as such.

I am dressed just like I should be - not according to your world views, biblical interpretations, or latest design/style fad.

Last time I checked, we came into the world unclothed.
