oh boy do I hear you. My Mom is coming out of a mental hospital in a few weeks...she was in jail for a year got out then went to the hospital, she is panicking also because she feels like she has nothing and no where to go. I would recommend a half way house. Its a wonderful thing. There are Many of rules to follow but its a great transitioning place for anyone in need of help and for you to go when your life is very structured in rehab back out to the
"real world" where there are so many uncertainties. I wish you the best of luck and would recommend going to a 1/2 way house just until you get on your feet again.

Half way house is a place where support if offered during a transition period.
In your case, u are coming out of rehab, where u will be around others like ureself and will be given similar services as you have been receiving, should you accept to. These are food, shelter n clothing, the 3 basic neccessities to help u until u can stand on ure own two feet.

Definitions of halfway house on the Web:
* Any private or public agency under contract to the Department of Public Safety or the Department of Corrections to provide residential and/or non residential treatment and transitional services for DOC offenders.
www.doc.state.co.us/Victim_Notification/victim_notif_definitions.htm
* A halfway house is a term for a drug rehabilitation center or sex offender center where drug users or sex offenders respectively are allowed to move more freely than in a correctional center but are still monitored by law enforcement agents, etc. There is often opposition from neighborhoods where halfway houses attempt to locate.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halfway_house
if that doesn't work, you can try locating organizations in your area that help people get back on their feet, like the salvation army, YMCA or even organizations that specifically help people who have made the big step like yourself and have quit drugs entirely. I know in Canada, there are some places you can go once you have quit drigs to stay for a while, work a little bit to help out and get back in the rythm of a normal life and they can even help you find a job. Since you have access to the internet, try looking up these kind of organizations.
Congratulations, and good luck.

my mother in law lived in a half way house. For the most part it is a hoouse that is usually all male or all female and they are all going thru a situation like you. They will help you get on your feet and get a job and stuff. It is not real bad but I would not make it a life time thing. Get out start your life over get a job and stay clean. Good luck to you.

Halfway House is also a village in Shropshire, England.
A halfway house is a drug rehabilitation or sex offender center, where drug users or sex offenders respectively, or even convicted felons let out on day parole, are allowed to move more freely than in a prison but are still monitored by staff and/or law enforcement. There is often opposition from neighborhoods where halfway houses attempt to locate.
In the United Kingdom, the term can also refer to a place where victims of child abuse, orphans or teenage runaways can stay. They are often run by the Church of England.

i have a male- relative in a half-way house. They helped him find a job. He is free to walk to stores til 6 pm. He pays all his job-earnings for room & board --except for $ 15 or $ 20 per wk. & he pays $ 20 per wk. for transportation to & from his job. He is allowed to go HOME on weekends NOW - after having been there several weeks. ( He FAILED his drug test & was in jail & his Probation or Parole officer WORKED it out for him to go to the half-way house for 6 mo's). His Probation Officer said that this Guy needed help ----that he'd had a drug problem many yrs. .
Best Wishes! p.s. I don't know if there are different types of Half-way houses or not). note: the guy Has $ 15 or $20 left for spending money AFTER paying for RIDE to and from work) --and after the deductions for Room and Board.
