I think they are both bad....smoking destroys your lungs. Alcohol destroys your liver...stomach and brain. Alcohol killed my mom. What makes Alcohol dangerous is that the disease of alcoholism can be passed down through the generations. I am a recovering alcoholic. My moms brother is an alcoholic. My grandfather was. There is no disease of smoking that passes down through the family trees....but smoking does kill people.

Smoking. A pack of cigarettes a day smoked for a year is equivalent to drinking half a cup of tar. It is also believed that each cogarette reduces the life-span by 4 minutes. Nicotine is a deadly drug and I am amazed that people who know these facts continue to smoke.
Drinking alcohol, on the other hand, is also bad if it is not consumed in moderation. Studies have indicated that a peg or two of whisky daily is good for the heart. But studies also indicate that the benefits of drinking is better seen in older men (not women) who DO NOT have a sedentary lifestyle.

Smoking is more socially offensive than drinking alcohol because it affects the breathing of others around the smoker as well as the individual with the habit more rapidly than does alcohol. Alcohol is more harmful to the drinker than to others until the alcoholic starts driving a motor vehicle, operating machinery or exercising bad judgement in behavior. Both are equally bad for the offender but the effects of smoking are more rapidly noticeable than the effects of alcohol consumption. The effects of alcohol are more rapidly DEADLY to others than those of smoking.

Drinking one drink (5 oz wine, 12 oz beer, or 1 1/2 oz liquor) for women and two drinks for men is a reasonable and moderate amount of alcohol to drink per day. More than this can have a negative impact on your immune system and can lead to liver damage.
Smoking is never good for you, but if you are going to smoke, try to smoke light or ultra light cigarettes and less than half a pack per day. Smoking causes lung cancer and increase your risk for cardiovascular disease. The less you smoke the better.
It would be better for your health to avoid both.

It really depends on how much you do of either. Drinking a gallon of liquor in an hour is deadly compared to smoking 100 cigarettes in an hour. But over time, smoking is definitely worst. Drinking in moderation can be beneficial, but any smoking at all is bad for you.

Statistics would show that more people die from smoking than alcohol. They are both bad things to have in your body even if taken in moderation. Depending on your state of health and inherent genetic predispositions, one may effect you more than the other.
Smoking causes more health problems than drinking. To name a few, lung cancer, heart cancer, emphysema. Alcohol consumption can lead to liver disease, gout, reduced motor function capability, heart problems and many other things.
How much you consume and how frequently you consume alcohol and cigarette smoke, will greatly effect your chances of developing negative side effects.

I think they are equal. But people crack me up with the whole dying from this or that thing. Lets face it we were born to die. Something is going to kill us either a smoke a drink or whatever. If we all lived life scared of everything we would all be in a bubble

Both have the potential to harm other people.
Smoking is always bad, always harms others as well as yourself. It also makes you dreadful to kiss.
Drinking alcohol in moderation will not harm others. So long as you don't get drunk, don't drink with alcoholics and don't drive, drinking's not a vice.

Drinking definitely. While both do your body harm.. Drinking is courage in a can/bottle.. Which leads to fights and bodily harm/death. Plus no drivers have ever killed someone while being under the influence of nicotine.
