After much wandering, prayer, tears, introspection and searching I came to understand that it is the Ancient and Original Church of Christ on Earth. It is the only place where Christians can experience the grace that is in the Eucharist (per Jesus' command). It is the only place where a venue for the broken and confused soul is given for Confession and Penance of mortal sin (ie, one so hindered by sin that it cannot reach out to Christ). It is a powerful community rich in the Spirit and edifying to the soul that seeks to love the Lord. It is a Church where Christ is really present. It is a Church that celebrates marriage as a holy sacrament, and recognizes the sacredness of the union of man and woman and in this way how it fulfills the plan of the Lord.
Finally, the Catholic church gives me an identity, almost as though we are a tribe of servants of the Lord.

I was converted to Christianity by a Fundamentalist minister. I was an atheist before. I asked too many questions and started reading the reformers such as Luther. It was Luther who convinced me to be Catholic. People forget that Luther was passionate about reforming the Catholic Church, not starting his own. Reform happened but Lutheranism unfortunately remained. Happily, the Evangelical Lutheran Church is seeking formal reunion with the Catholic Church.
