Yes, they are. It only takes 7 members to make a church according to US guidelines. If they apply for tax exempt status then they get it.

Mormons are recognized as a church, not a cult, so are tax-exempt.

People's Temple was originally recognized as a church in 1962, so received tax-exempt status. Even though the structure and goals of the church changed drastically, they still maintained their status.

Are you shocked? Just what about freedom of religion, don't you understand? 200 years ago, Catholicism was considered a cult in most of the US. Before that, King George's troops, burnt churches that wouldn't pay the stamp tax.

yes you only need two members and to hold church once a month ..can be in your kitchen..tax exempt
