my girlfreind is from moldova and she speaks russian as her primary language, and I want to impress her and her family as this will go a long way to winning her hand in marrage. :-)

in regards to the build on love thing... its there... and really I dont have to "win" her hand.. but its just somthing I want to do for her and her family. I am just old fashioned like that I guess.

u know i was in the same situation and now after some months i can speak the language that was my bf s lanuage:) russian i know so u can contact me if u need some phrases to say it in russian to ur gf:) i can teach the to u

make friends with someone who speaks russian and hang out with them and speak russian with them....
don't use a good impression to win a hand in marriage...it should be built upon love.

Library, friend, or sign up to learn it at a community college and get someone else to pay for you. xD

also, try to watch TV or movies (with subtitles in the beginning)
watch them several times until you can connect the words with the meanings then watch without subtitles and try to understand.

you can try checking at the local library to see if they have language lessons on tape/cd
