30 minutes! I'll tell you why. One morning a long time ago, I was watching the news and the health section came on. The weird thing is that it was about the same question you just asked! The doctor who was hosting the section said that a person should wait thirty minutes after getting out of bed(not just waking up and laying in bed) so that the spinal cord can settle into position. Yes, he stated that the spinal cord relaxes and stretches while a person sleeps. It stretches about 1/4an inch up to an inch. Jumping out of bed and hitting the workouts is not in a persons best interest. I wait my thirty minutes - then I attack the iron! Lift safe; It's worth it! -peace.

Why isn't good to workout after getting up? Workout is good whenever you feel like it. I heard its not good after you swim. Best time for me is mid afternoon. I am awake and ready to take on anything in the evening. I like 12 pm or 5pm. If you have to have mornings do 9 am.

A good workout is great right after you wake up but make sure you replinish with a man's breakfast. Morning workouts are great because they get the body awake and alert.

That is B.S.
As long as your stretched up, i.e. you spend some time preparing to work out, you can do it. What I hate is working out late in the evening. Then I can't sleep, and I get into all sorts of mischief.
sigh.

Unless you are training for the olympics or something, work out at the time that best works for you.
