One of the yogas of Hinduism is Karma Yoga. It is where you perform your duties and do seva (selfless service/community service) but work to detach yourself from your actions and the rewards of those actions...instead you offer them to the Divine. So, to answer the question...yes I believe that by doing good works for the sake of the Divine and offering the rewards also to the Divine that you can get to heaven. Although in Hinduism, heaven is not the ultimate goal, it is just a stopping point. Moksha or liberation of samsara and complete union with the Divine is the ultimate goal.

As I understand it, Jesus Christ made it clear that what was required was not a "turned leaf" but a new tree".
Man is unable to enter Heaven because Heaven is "perfect". Without defect...flawless.
Mankind, on the other hand is incorrigible. The very heart/soul nature is defiant and rebellious. Pride's poison is integral in every cell and printed in the DNA of all. The only hope is a "perfect" Adam. Jesus filled that role. My surrender and allegience to Him is my only chance.
He is my Hero.

I believe in reincarnation. Good acts and bad go towards the maturity of your soul, the good having a positive effect and the bad having a negative effect. Eventually, after as many lives as necessary for the maturity of your soul, you transcend the need for rebirth because your soul is so pure it no longer needs to mature. Instead, you join with the Higher Power that is the Goddess and God.

I think you can go to Heaven if you truly are genuinely changing not by doing some last minute good deeds because you close to dying. I hope I go to Heaven anyway. Nobody's perfect all the time.

Sister, I've listened to both sides of this debate, and I find myself firmly in the middle. For clarification, it's always best to go back to the Word:
[ James 2: (14) My brothers, what [is] the gain if anyone says he has faith, but he does not have works? Is the faith able to save him? (15) But if a brother or a sister is naked and may be lacking in daily food, (16) and any one of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but does not give them the things the body needs, what gain [is it]? (17) So also faith, if it does not have works, is dead being by itself. (18) But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith out of my works. ]
Personally, I believe that having True Faith leads automatically to doing good works. "Getting into Heaven" isn't my reason for either one; pleasing My Father is.

The Bible is clear on this subject! Gods' plan of salvation for us totally excludes our works. There are many references in the new testiment which point out that it is not of works, not of ourselves lest any man should boast. The Apostle Paul said that many would stumble at the simplicity in Christ. For many, It would be too easy and so they would try and substitute Gods' redemptive grace with their works. Hope this helps.

I'm an agnostic I dunno if Heaven exists or not but I would like to think if there is a heaven that a good kind hearted person would be allowed in even if they didn't believe or had another religion etc.

If heaven exists (which I don't believe) you would get there only by doing good. most of these 'christians' believe that it could be achieved by simply saying that they accept jesus and no more. they should read his words and look at his example.
