this is termed as emotional black mail. in order to make you act as they want, these people threaten to take extreme action, like harming themselves, to the point of serious injury, even at the cost of losing their lives.you naturally get frightened of the outcome, and relent. once they know your weakpoint, this game is repeated, every time they want things their way. in order to deal with these people, you have to gather courage, tell them in simple, clear words, that the decisions will not be taen in their favour just because they are threatening to cut their veins, or pour gasoline on their bodies, or jump from the window, they will be only responsible for their own actions. once they realise that you won't give in, they wil have to change their ways. for more elaborate guidance on this topic, open emotional blackmail on yahoo search, and you will find detailed ways of handling this serious problem.

Give them what they want. Feed them !!! This is simply because they have a feeling of not possessing something. Moreover, if you are resist something it will be increasing your intention towards it. So, better quench the thirst and make them happy. Love them. Love can break boundaries.
Address the problem from the root, that is the mind. Calm the person mind with love & affection.

jealous people are usually not self destructive,but can be dangerous to others.
one should be care full with them,because they might carry their threats into actions and cause serious assaults to the victims.
the best way is to have a psychiatric opinion .

leave them. They are the ones who eventually are spouse abusers.
If they are not so comfortable with who they are, why should you stay?
