It was Whitbread's Forest Brown ale, but alas the Brewery no longer exists. Now I would guess Shepherd Neame's Bishops Finger is about the best I know of from England.

I like Boddingtons beer the best when I go to the pub....
I have only been to the pub twice.The 2 days i was in the UK
I'm in the US and drink Boddingtons.

at the moment tomos watcyn's cwrw haf.
though i also like the brakspear triple mightily, and i was very impressed by the rhymney centenary brew (though as far as i am aware you can't buy that any more).
