Cow's milk can give any human the runs. It's not human milk, so we all have a bit of an irritation to it, some just have it more than others (lactose intolerant). I think a baby's system is more sensitive to it as it hasn't fully developed yet.

Cows milk is very dangerous for babies, about the last thing you would have to worry about is "the runs" It can cause breathing problems and anemia in some cases, especially if gone unchecked and can even result in death. You do not want to give a child under age three cow's milk without talking to a doctor first.

Baby must be at the very least 11 mths old, better yet, 12 mths old before fully taking cows milk. You can use it in cereal and cooking in very small amounts from about 8 mths however. If they are younger they may not be lactose intolerant, it may be that their digestive system is not ready for cows milk. Try formula suitable for your baby's age first and if they still get the runs, then perhaps they are allergic. Go to your doctor to have it checked out.

Yes, in fact many babies have allergies to cows milk. It is not the best thing for a baby, mom's milk is the best. Cows milk has hormones in it and cows are not always allowed to graze, but are given feed. This in turn goes into your baby.

yes. it is very possible. the baby could be lactose intolerant ( a significant portion of the population is). There are a number of alternatives available such as formula with no lactose, goat milk might not have the same type of reaction and soy milk is also an option (but I have heard it may be a little hard on a baby's system if it isn't made especially for babies).

if the milk has not been kept cool enough by your shop it will age slightly and is more likely to upset baby's stomach.
as well, many humans have a slight allergy to cow milk.
