They are legal as long as you don't have any residue of drugs in them. I live in Tunisia and brought one back to the US for a friend as a gift and had no problems with customs or anything.

Unfortunately they are considered drug paraphernalia. The pipe will be confiscated and you will then be searched and possibly arrested and deported back to your home country. Unfortunately they are illegal here in the US even though they are sold in some "tobacco" stores.

hey, they are sold here in the states, but I don't think you would be able to go through an airport with a bong and not get arrested for illegal paraphenalia. don't do it.

they are sold in the usa but they are still technically illegal
poor old Tommy Chong got arrested on this technicality

They could be confiscated as drug paraphernalia. I wouldn't risk it. You could ship it to yourself (making sure that there's no drug residue on it).

As far as I know, a "water filtration device" only becomes illegal when you put something illegal in it.
