If abortion were made illegal, what should the legal punishment be for women who have them? What is the divine punishment, if any?

Ok, since I'm getting a little flack from the pro-choicers on this one I should explain that I'm not arguing that abortion should be a crime, I'm asking those that do feel that way how they would approach it from a practical standpoint.

well, maybe you should ask what the punishment should be for the male person who is the father of the child...and why can't that so called human being use a condom??? I won't call him a man, because a man is more responsible! You sound like you should be back in the Burning Times...I'll bet you would light the first match on the pyre (for want of a better word) for Joan of Arc! Your mother decided to have you, what should her punishment be for that?

If abortions are so bad, isn't the real issue how to reduce the actual number that occur? I've never heard anyone say, "Wow, let's get pregnant then have an abortion." There have been studies of the reasons for having abortions. That is the best place to start, reducing the reasons for a person choosing an abortion.
Christians are particularly interested in punishment. God is big on both punishment and forgiveness. Christians today have evolved into a barbaric, sadistic lot that has forgotten "Love thy neighbor", treat the least of my children as you would treat me, and judge not that you be not judged.
Many Christians would say, "Just kill the fuppers and let God sort them out."
If the Constitution guarantees that I have a right not to put up with primitive religious mumbo jumbo, what should the punishment be? Should it be the same as the one for loud car radios?
One punishment for a woman contemplating an abortion is the castration of the man who impregnated her and is unwilling to fulfill his responsibility to care for a child for 18 years.
New rule: late with child support, off with the nuts.

If it were illegal, perhaps taking away the ability to have more children by removing the ovaries--but keeping a few eggs until the time that the mother actually decides to be a mother. I'm pro-choice, btw, but if it were illegal, I think that would keep women from saying that they didn't mean to get pregnant from doing it again and again. I think there should be a rape clause, too.

Speaking of which, if a punishment was put in effect for abortion if it were to be made illegal, I think that a MUCH stricter punishment should go towards those who wantonly spread their sperm around in the form of rape, including date rape. Anyone else for removing the MAN's ability to reproduce? YAY!

if abortion was illegal, i feel the legal punishment should be that whom ever decided to have the abortion (meaning if both the woman and the male or say for instance a parent forces a child), should have to spend at least a month volunteering at a newborn nursery where sick premature babies are fighting to live and that they interview the parents regarding how much they are praying to be able to take a baby home. then they would realize how precious live is and not to take the gift of life so lightly. as far as divine punishment if a person repents, all is forgiven. if no repentence, the sin is punishable with death.

The only thing about the "it takes two to make a baby" thing is that according to pro-choicers it is a "women choice" to kept the baby, the man has no say in it. Why should he be punished if he had no say? Maybe if someone thought about the baby's choice we would not have a problem. Adoption is ALWAYS an option.

If it were made illegal, than I suppose jail time would be a punishment the courts would use, just like anything else. Or maybe just a fine. Would depend on the law I guess.

But if it ever got that far, and they deemed it murder, I suppose some places may seek the death penalty.

Not personal Point of View, but Im just talking legality. IF it was illegal, I suppose those may be some of the sentences theyd impose.

If abortion was made illegal again it would be more of a crime then the abortion itself. As a Country we would be sending many lost young girls to slaughter houses to not only give up the lives of their children but their own.Instead what needs to happen is we need to educate and support our children so they can trust us in a serious time of need as that. Then we may be able to make a couple that cannot have children happy and blessed and our daughters the giver of life instead of the taker.

Usually a just punishment is something almost completely identical to the crime. So, I would ask pro-choice people what would happen to a person who has had an abortion if they were given the exact same fate as what happens to the fetus...

It's not moral to criminalise abortion, desperate women will then be prey to backstreet abortionists and once again they will be dying alone of blood poisoning and haemmorages caused by these butchers, women used to throw themselves down stairs and try all manner of dangerous ways to induce a natural abortion in the good old days.

Once again that terrible situation that so many people have fought so long and so hard to overcome could again be back with us.

Desperate women with their own reasons for not wanting to carry through a pregnancy, should not be forced to carry through pregnancies they do not want.

If you disagree with abortion don't have an abortion, nobody will force you to... but don't prevent others from having that option without the threat of criminal action hanging over them.

An eye for an eye.At the risk of sounding judgmental, maybe if the "system" did more to keep the rapists, child molesters etc, out of circulation, there wouldn't be so many unwanted pregnancies.(I know we do not live in that kind of world)I also believe everything happens for a reason(God's Will)
I do not believe in abortion for any reason, but as far as punishment,I would say a life for a life. What would a woman that killed her newborn be sentenced to?
