God doesn't call us to live without sin.
I will sin again tomorrow, several times before the day is over.
God calls us to make the World a better place. We do this by attempting to heal our own pride, selfishness, and brokeness every day. We do this by fighting oppression, disease, and poverty. We do this by caring and loving each other.
Everyday we are called to bring Heaven to Earth.
God knows your intentions. He's more interested in saving you than condemning you.
Don't give up on fighting sin, but take it one day at a time. Maybe you beat a particular sin today, but you won't tomorrow. He understands we're not perfect.
If this particular sin is especially threatening to yourself, your relationships, or to others, then do everything to fight it, but don't be dismayed by occasional loss.
God Bless. Love Wins.

Smoking is not necessarily a sin. It is a bad habit in the sense that it poisons the body, your temple to worship the Lord in, but it isn't really a sin. God loves a smoker, but He refuses to leave them as they are. He accepts you as his child, but He does not want you to go through the disease and all the bad things about smoking. Drop to your knees and confess to God that you have a problem you need His help with, and try your hardest to fight the addiction. Do not rely on these so-called 'Miracle Stop- Smoking' pills, because God is helping you in a way that they can't. Not only is your body hurting from relying on tobacco, but your soul is also. God's loving care is the only thing that can help you here. Remember, God has already forgiven you, and He will help you get over the addiction, the cravings, and the withdrawals, when they come. 'Pray without ceasing' -1st Thessalonians 5:17 God bless you, I will pray for you!

Oh man. That's one of the hardest. I quit almost 10 years ago after smoking for 25 years. My wife is still trying to quit after watching her father die of lung cancer.
I know where you're at.
It's not a sin like "Thou Shalt Not Smoke"...other than treating our bodies as temples and such. The sooner you can quit, however, the better.
Ask Him for strength and seek whatever help you think might get you through.
Just FYI...
I got mad. I picked a weekend - vacation week perhaps it was - and I told myself that if I literally coughed up a lung that I would not have another cigarette. I bought a box of Nicorette gum and quit in a week. The first 3 days or so are not too pleasant but then it gets better.
Good luck. I'll pray for you.

Paul fought with his sins, he not just start "Glowing" in the Dark when he came to know Jesus. Read Romans 7:14-25. One of the things we will see in the Bible is the Example of others sins, this is not meant for us to use as a "Scape Goat" and say, well he did it, so can I, but, God is showing us we ALL have a sin nature to deal with. Also, we see the people in the Bible did confess their sins to God. Never feel just because you do something wrong God will not forgive you, but, do realize that sometimes we may suffer the Consequences of our sins!

We all struggle with sin. I am saved. I have been baptised in Jesus name and have the Holy Ghost and I still struggle with drinking. I don't drink a lot, but I do enjoy to go out and have a few drinks every so often. When I go to church, I feel so much conviction. I know that drinking is not right, but it is so hard when the people that you are friends with all drink. I just keep praying that I can stop and become an example to my friends and family. Just don't give up. If you truely want to quit, then give it to God and have faith that he will take it from you. It will be a struggle, but God will reward your faithfulness. I just said a prayer for you. Good luck!!

Sister, Smoking is bad for you, but it's not a sin (unless you consider it a form of slow suicide).
However, if you believe that smoking is a sin, and have asked God to help you, and given it over to him, then that's a more serious issue.
When you "give your struggle with sinning to God" it means that your efforts to stop sinning are a type of prayer, precious in his eyes. It's your way of saying that you love God more than whatever else is getting in the way -- whether it's money, sex, drugs, smoking, gambling, etc.
Yes, God forgives you when you fail. But if you are truly saved, you will continue to try to find a way to put God first in your life, in actions as well as words. May he bless you and continue to help you do so.

Oh, come on, do you really think God wants you to continue smoking? You are fooling yourself to think that.
Asking God to help you also requires effort on your part too. We have been given free will, you need to exercise your free will to stop. God will help you too, but you must do your part. Being a Christian doesn't mean we make a wish and it comes true.
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, you are not giving the H.S. a healthy place to reside. Make up your mind to quit and do so. It's just that simple.

Smoking is a sin because it harms our bodies and is not healthy.
Please ask God to help you quit. It can harm your testimony
especially if you are in the ministry..
My 25 year old son just quit 1 month ago. He just picked a day and when that day came he quit. It takes willpower but you can do
it!!! You will feel better. Good luck!!

If you have truly given to God, He will take it from you. I like how you used the word "old sins", because that says that means you no longer consider it to one of those sins of yours. You just keep asking God to help you and God knows your heart. He's gonna make everything alright for you

The bible says it is about grace and not works. Sounds like you are trying to keep up with works. The more you try, the harder you will cling to it subconciously. You are trying too hard. I remcommend a book "What to say when you are talking to yourself" by Shad Helstetter. It has some great info on quitting addictions and habits without putting so much pressure on yourself. The harder you are on yourself, the more you ingrain in your subconcious that you ARE a smoker and the you CAN'T quit.
