There are a whole range of things you need to think about in order to know what type of dog you want. If you go to www.doggierescue.com.au and then about 2/3 the way down there is a face shot of a cute little dog, under there is a link to some thinngs to think about. there is also an adoption form. This is the form we ask people to fill out so we can match them with the right dog.

Things to think about
large or small
short hair or long (remember short hair dogs shed more)
inside or outside
only animal or have others
are their young children or elderly people
how secure is your yard
how big is your yard
will you do training
How long will the dog be alone during the day.

these are some of the things you need to think about.

Have a look at the website of the pound you are going to and have a look at the dogs they have. make a list of ones you like. once you are there they should tell you if the ones you like are suitable for you or not.

Remember that a dogs behaviour will change once it is at home and being loved again. this may take a few weeks for them to settle in and build trust in you. Once they do though, they are the best friends ever.

I have 2 rescue dogs and a pet shop puppy. they are all wonderful dogs.

If you need any other information send me an email

You need to choose a dog that will fit in with your lifestyle. Are you an active person? or do you want more of a companion/lap dog?? Do you travel alot, will the dog be going with you?? Are you the type of person to take the time to groom him/her. Deciding long or short fur. Although there are other grooming that should be done either way, like cleaning ears, clipping nails, bathing etc... Deciding to even own a dog is a HUGE responsibility, deciding what kind should be thought of carefully.

Do you have children. Do you have time to train a dog to your schedual. Your age and health and activities in and away from the home. The same things you would consider if you were raising a child, or thinking about it.

I would chose a rotti as they are very loyal, love their food and love to lie in the sun after a hard days work.

I have two dogs, male and female, who are like me. They are laid back, very happy dogs. They like being with people and just chilling.
