This must mean that if you were alive when Jesus was on Earth, that you would've hated him also. Jesus went all over going from house to house preaching about Jehovah God. Would you too have slammed the door in Jesus's face? Would you have constantly ridiculed him? Or would you have listened to what he had to say? Does the thought of not listening to Jesus if he were alive even cross your mind? I doubt anyone would want to admit to doing to Jesus what so many do to the witnesses today.

No no no!! I am not comparing us to Jesus. I'm saying the door to door thing. I didn't say we were like Jesus being at your door. In no way could we even come close to that.

We don't force our way into your house. We do not go in unless invited. I think you might have us confused with other relegions. And we do not force our views.

Flaco, we do know about the Bible, probably more than you. And maybe you need to get your facts straight too. We have no such thing as a Watchover Co.

Matt. 24:14: And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
How do you suppose the good news was to be preached to all the inhabited earth without witnessing?

to the man who said Jesus was Jewish, yes he was, but he was the first Jehovah Witness. he did the same things we are doing. I was born Jewish also, not I am a Jehovah Witness. we are people of different back grounds. black, white we are all family. why don't you listen to us. we do the same things that Jesus did. we also have problems with bills and family life just like you. we cry just like anyone else does. get to know us. we never said we as Jehovah Witnesses are like Jesus, Jesus was perfect, but we are inperfect with sin. by the way, we are not like the fuller brush man or woman. we don't sell anything. the fuller brush person sells things. we give of our time for free. our magazines and bible studies are free.

I probably would have wanted my privacy and my right to believe as I choose respected even then, yes. Slammed the door in his face? No. Told him to go away as politely as possible. Yes. Ridiculed? No. Who cares what another person believes, as long as they're happy? If a hundred other people claiming to be the children of gods had come by and preached, I would have done the same, too.
I would not listen to Jesus in this day and age any more than I do his followers now. It's not in me to believe in only a male aspect of Deity.

I came in this post anyways. I like them. I rather see them doing nice things than what I see so many others doing. I don't know why people get so worked up. Your right if Jesus came today these same complainers would shut the door on them. Any time someone knocks it could be an interruption-big deal-you got interrupted by someone who wants to talk about Spiritual things. The world does not want to talk spiritual things than they are just like the Pharisees. They too felt pain just from listening. Funny in one of Paul's letter's he gave credit to a group who look up everything to see if it was true. It doesn't say they all changed-but they were listening. When I look at these posts and the venom that comes out from supposed Christians-well it just makes me ill. And the more I am hearing from those who just want to tell you thinks from the bible-the more I am listening. I see how they are behaving. Not everyone is blind and deaf. Not everyone is turned off. Not everyone is a Pharisee-who holds their ears and looks for ways to cause injury.
I guess I picked a good name because I have had enough of so call righteous Christians who are full of --BALONEY (best I could think of).
Thanks for letting me get off some steam I too have some faults to work on.
Former Quaker
And to that man who said it never says that in the bible (house to house)--I have several and it says it in all of them .

Your facts are incorrect. Where in the Word do you find Jesus going from house to house, knocking on doors?
You've got it backwards, once Jesus' public ministry began...miracles, signs and wonders followed Him...immediately people gathered to Him and knocked on His door. They were so relentless that He was literally driven out of some villages and towns by the crowds of people not leaving Him alone. Remember, He would get up in the middle of the night and escape into the mountains to find refuge, and pray to His Father.
And, He was hated...by the religious people...but for the power and authority that He had.
You have great passion, it's just a little misdirected.

I only have a couple times visit from the Jehovah's Witnesses. I don't dislike them, but the teaching is definitely wrong.
Don't get offended. Jesus would bring truth(He himself is truth). But Jehovah's Witnesses bring what the Watchover Co. tells them to say.
If you come to my door you better know at least the basics of the Bible, or at least of your believes for that matter. It seems that the Jehovah's Witnesses are not smart enough to study the Bible by themselves. They have to relay on Watchover Co. to interprets the Bible for them.

Sinthyia's answer is right. If a Jehovah meets a person who is already dedicated to a religion other than that of a JW then the JW will feel obligated to try to convert the other person and this would include criticising one's beliefs. I have no problem with JWs' knocking on my door but I have a problem with the hole picking, and this includes the return visits that have clearly involved discussions of strategies of what to say next. It is comparable to the tactics of a door to door salesmen of a pyramid selling scheme in my book.

door to door? no. There is no indication that Jesus ever went 'door to door.' Jesus Taught where people were gathered. In only a hand full of instances is he recorded as being in a house or teaching in a house. Mary, Martha in Bethany, Peter's house at Capernaum, Simon, Zachaeus, a few others. The dialogs indicate that he invited himself to Zachaeus' house, but the others were mostly at the invitation of the host. The early church seems to have mostly followed suit. It seems Paul always headed to the synagogue every time he entered a new town. He taught at the marketplaces and even in a school, but rarely in individual homes.
In Luke 10:7 Jesus instructed his disciples NOT to go from house to house. "Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house"
Paul does mention it in Ac 20:20, but I doubt that 'cold contacts' were routine but rather as the examples in scripture: Cornelius, Jailer at Phillipi, homes where a local church met... These were places where he was invited.
18 of the 84 times oikos, the Greek word commonly translated house, occurs in the New Testament are in Acts or the letters of Paul + 2nd John, that is, after the church was formed. 65 times it is used in the gospels, but Jesus is almost never described as being in a house and is never described as going from house to house.

While Jesus went to certain houses - he did not waste his time going Fuller Brush salesman in door to door fashion. Had he done that he would not have had time to teach the masses or heal the sick and other miracles he performed.
As for his disciples whom he sent out (according to the gospels) no mention was made of them going from house to house - but out into the highways and by ways - the public places and staying at peoples houses as they were invited.
Of course common people were more friendly then and in their culture unlike America who hates to answer the door for salesmen or bill collectors or even Jehovah's Witnesses.
The Bible also tells us not to even welcome those who teach contrary to the Word of God nor bid them Godspeed for if we do, we become a party to their sins. So I personally will not welcome a J.W. in my home nor give them the time of day UNLESS they are willing to let me talk to them and they just listen. Then I will take the time to explain Salvation through Christ.

Brother, are you ever brainwashed from your religion! Jesus was Jewish, & a main stay of the Jewish religion is...we do not proselytize.
Stop reading your personal convictions into the Scriptures. That's known as eisogesis. This is one of the reasons I've been trying to get you Gentiles to understand Jesus' Jewishness. If you understood the Jewish culture, you'd have a more clear understanding of what the Scriptures are REALLY saying.
That is known as exogesis...reading It for what It actually says.

i was never mean to any Jehovah's witnesses, i offered them drinks n snacks, i just didnt like how they tried to force me to join and they refused to leave my house, even though majority of them were like that with me, i still to this day remain friendly to them.. but Jesus never forced anything on anyone, thats just it he belived in free will, he went to doors, preached but never forced his way into the door, or refused to leave, oh by the way im not the only one with a Jehovah'a witness story like that, but i understand thats their religion they should try a different approach than walking into someones door before the invite them in, they do that to me all the time then when they get inside the treat me like im stupid, i must be stupid because i explain that im christian and remain friendly, maybe i should just go off on them, but i wont. cuz i dont care that much besides when the day comes God will tell me i did a good thing by remaining a friend to them. and for listening to what they have to say.

It is foolishness to pretend that Jesus did not publicly preach. The Scriptures indicate that Jesus personally instructed his disciples to go door-to-door. Clearly, Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones working to perform the same type of work in our day.
What did Jesus personally say about any who would disregard that important work?
(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. 3 Go forth. Look! I am sending you forth as lambs in among wolves. ...16 “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards [also] him that sent me forth.”
