If you are alive, why be scared? You should be really happy you are alive and ok.
You didn't say why you had the surgery, but if it was a matter of taking care of yourself, you did and you came through.
If you are still feel strange, it may be post-op jitters. Just think of all the good things you can do, you have a "second chance" so to speak. What message could be in getting a second chance for you, what needs to change in your life for the better? Look at it as something very positive.

yes as it was an unexpected thing & you must have needed it enough for them to make it an emergency surgery.... most have time to deal with having to go through surgery.. and tend to cope better than ones being surprised by it....you are probally in shock from having no real warning & it's just hitting you how serious it was.. call your doctor & ask for something to calm your nerves for a few days, til it sinks in that you did make it through it...that's scary stuff for sure !!
I had a few close calls in the ER... the first 2 I felt the same way....as I was fine one minute the next I was having a severe allergic reaction to shrimp in a restraunt the first time...the second was fumes from the latex in a marine paint I encountered in a swim club.... 2-3 days on a small dose of an anxiety medicine helped me want to sleep...as I only felt very sleepy after I had a few other symptoms...my heart stopped 2 times with the first ER visit... I just passed out for 7 hours with the second one.
I am sorry you had to have it that way....

Yes, that is very normal for people who've undergone any type of surgery, because while you are under (put to sleep) you're body does not have full control of itself, so after surgery sometimes you can feel like you are "out of your body", or you can feel "numb" & you can't feel your body. I've had several surgeries, & that has happened to be before a couple of times. As long as you feel healthy, all should be well, but check with your Dr. if you don't feel better in a few more days, you may need to talk about it, or at least hear from you Dr. you're ok, that helped me. Good luck:)

It's a delayed reaction. Everything probably happened too fast for you to be scared then, so you are scared now. You didn't die. Just be thankful that the surgery was available and you are just fine now.

It IS normal. When you go to the hospital, where things are so sterile, and clinical, and you get a sense of your own morality, it definately has an effect on you. It'll pass....talk to friends about it and get out and do things.
