If you'd like you can use the nice people's phone and call to your friends/relatives/anyone who can help here in the United States. People in Siberia also know a little bit of English and at times speak perfectly in English and Russian (depending whom you're going to talk to). Those people can be your translators when you need one. As far as I know they'll be more than happy to help and assist any tourist or new-commer to their area in any way they can. Of course, some people will treat you like a 7-year-old child who's lost in the middle of nowhere, but I believe they'll mean well when they'll be helping you out. Just make sure you'll be able to somehow explain what's going on and what you're trying to do and/or looking for :)

I hope it helped somehow :)

P.S.: Just in case you'll be going to Russia, make sure you'll have the little pocket translator with you and have it in a safe spot with you at all times :) It'll help you out in any situation you'll find yourself stuck in. And, find something warm to wear in winter times, because the temperature in Siberia especially can drop down from -25 to -45 Celcius (Or, about -13.0 to -49.0 Farenheit) on average in some areas. In some places it's either a little bit warmer (by about 10 degrees) or colder (by about 10-20 degrees)... Russia is beautiful coutry to visit and stay in :) However, use caution and take care just like you would in any other place that you're visiting for the first time.

** Just to let you know an additional piece of information, as of June 11th, 2006 9:29:45pm (Califonia, U.S./Pacific Time):

27.0465 Russian Rubles (RUB) is equal to 1 US Dollar
0.037 US Dollars (USD) is equal to 1 Russian Ruble
This is updated every 30 minutes by http://www.xe.com/

So this way you won't get wripped off in the Foreign Currency Exchange :) When you'll go to another country make sure you'll have enough money (Dollars in this case) to get yourself something to eat (even just $1 can get you a nice meal in a cafe or a restaurant in Russia, because of the dollar value being so different).
