Look on the DOP website for sources used in making up the exam. They will cite the law, e.g. 2C, and a few books. These books will most likely have nothing to do with your job but there will be questions on the test based on the books so buy them and study. Take Bernstein's course if you need help in study skills but don't count on him to have the answers like he used to. Whatever you do, DON'T TAKE GROTH'S COURSE!!! He is an arrogant slob that knows nothing about test prep. He gets the answers from past tests and hopes that the same questions will be repeated next time. I should know how I did on a promotional test without anyone's help. I'll update my answer to let you know if I faired better than those that took courses. In the end, your effort will determine your results, not some self-centered quack.

You might try the public library. Also, your human resources department might have a list of resources. Rather than use this site, you might have better luck on using the search engine on your comuter. Have you tried asking a recently promoted sergeant? If you can't figure this out, I imagine you would have problems passing the sergeants' exam.

Try your local bookstore in the Test Prep Section... Borders has a great selection if you have one near... Or try amazon.com... Good Luck
