How effective is Neurontin?

Question

when taken by a person with a combination of depression, mood swings, siezure disorder *not epilepcy*, and for bi-polar disorder??
Its not for me, its for someone very dear to me!

The neurontin is only as good as how their body will adapt to it. It also depends on of this person takes his/her medince is prescribed. It's like any other Rx med, some work great for some people, some don't. What is your friend saying about this med, or is he/she going on it & want some advice? It does work, but it has to be taken as Rx daily. It can be effective, but like any drug will have side effects. There are newer drugs out today, if this person has tried them all, then maybe Neurontin is the way to go, if not they can try Lexapro, or Wellbutrin. Neurontin is a big joke. The drug was first approved for seizures, and even then it wasn't shown to be very effective. Today it is used for sleep, leg pain, and other unrelated issues. Its about widening the market and profitability, not about efficacy. These drugs are a short cut to death. That's it. Try looking into natural alternatives first.

I have never heard of neurontin being used for depression,,myhubby takes it for neuropathy in his legs,,, look it up on the web
