That passage is talking about when you gather at The Lords Supper (communion) it helps if you read the whole passage and not just a verse in it. It was very common for people to meet and eat with eachother in fellowship and worship. There is nothing wrong with it, but when you gather together for Communion, its not to get together to pig out.

First of all, that verse needs to be understood in context. In the early church a meal was part of the gathering, and some people were being hogs and eating everything before others had a chance to eat, so Paul was trying to say that the community meal was about fellowship, not filling the stomach, also, there were rich and poor people in the church and Paul was trying to deal with the issue of the rich eating, while the poor were going hungry.
So if we really wanted church to be like it was in NT times, we would have a meal every time we gather, and not just bread and juice.

First you are taking this verse out of context. ! Cor 11:34 is talking about the Lords supper.
Now is it right to eat in Church .For one to make anything right or wrong it must always be judged against Gods word. Many times when you find folks gathering in scriptures they also break bread. So the very act of eating in its self is not wrong.Even Christ was eating the passover meal when he instituted the Lords supper. Passover was as reverent worship time as our current Sunday practice of worship.
Now for my thoughts on this :is it wise to eat and disturb other by our actions no it is not. Is it sin the word is silent .
Do I think it is right. All who are in a congregation should show Honor respect and reverence To our Lord. If you can eat and do this it is something between you and God. I should have no say in the matter.unless your actions disrupt fellow worshipers.

I think that the House of God should be honored and respected at all times by all people. It really should go without saying, it is after all, God's House.

With that being said...
God's House is a place of Love, Peace, and Hope. It can not be polluted by mans rights and wrongs, manners and ill-manners, high-filutin or no-filutins. People should feel comfortable and at-home, sort of speak. Children certainly should view church as a nice, and yes, even fun, place to go. I always remember my grandmother giving me candy, mints, or gum. She did it to treat me, quiet me, and to otherwise occupy me. I see nothin wrong w/that. I also remember church as a child to be stuffy and kinda scary, children definitely have to be taught to respect the house of God, but we need to balance that by showing Gods love and fun. I know God loves the sound of children lauphing and having fun in his house.

I don't believe in eating at church, no. That includes these homecoming meals in the fellowship halls as well...the fellowship hall is still part of the church...its my own personal conviction that it is wrong.

No. It is God's house and you should respect not eating during the service. Afterwards, in the basement or the rectory, that's OK.

I thought that's why a lot of churches had separate buildings, for events that shouldn't be held in the chuch.
